Mahur Melina Hashemi (26) is doing her PhD research on the decisions we make in threatening situations. For example, imagine a situation in which someone suddenly points a gun at you. What do you do: freeze, fight or run? She studies these processes in police officers in training, who will face these kinds of situations regularly in their future work. She is also very interested in whether our decision making changes as a result of experiencing threatening situations more often.

In her free time outside of the lab, Mahur likes to go on backpacking adventures, enjoys different types food and cooking, and looks to be challenged and inspired by DIY projects.
